News: Apr 11, 2016

Dr Anders Palmquist, Department of Biomaterials, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, is the recipient of the Jean Leray Award 2016. The Jean Leray Award is the most prestigious award given to young researchers by the European Society for Biomaterials. This award is established to recognize, encourage and stimulate outstanding research contributions to the field of biomaterials by young scientists.

Anders Palmquist has demonstrated significant creativity and methodological skills to unravel the 3D ultrastructure and composition of bone-material interfaces. Using an innovative interdisciplinary approach, he has introduced novel sampling and preparation techniques and implemented high-resolution and multi-dimensional imaging and spectroscopic techniques for the analysis of experimental and human material-tissue specimens.

Dr Palmquist is a researcher in the BIOMATCELL VINN Excellence Center of Biomaterials and Cell Therapy, funded by VINNOVA, Region Västra Götaland and Sahlgrenska Academy, and currently a project leader of Additive Manufacturing. In the Area of Advance Materials, Chalmers and GU Biomaterials, an initiative supported by Swedish Government Strategic Funding, he is active in the research on high-resolution microscopy of material-bio interfaces
