Project OSTEOCHONDRAL

 

Bone and cartilage regeneration.
The overall aim of this project is to explore the mechanisms and factors that control the differentiation of progenitor and stem cells, and to use this knowledge to produce new combinations of biomaterials, cells and/or drugs for improved bone and cartilage regeneration. A focus is on the role of extracellular vesicles in biomaterial-cell and cell-to-cell communication. Another objective is to promote the chondrogenic regeneration in intervertebral discs and articular cartilage. The research combines BIOMATCELL partners with expertise in exosomes and extracellular vesicles, stem cell biology and clinical science.
