Björn Rydevik

Björn Rydevik MD, PhD, Professor of orthopaedic surgery, Department of orthopaedics, Sahlgrenska Academy, Göteborg university, graduated in 1973. He worked in Professor Brånemarks research group and earned his PhD in 1979 based on a project on peripheral nerve injuries. During 1986 and 1987 he was visiting professor at the Department of orthopaedics, University of California San Diego. Since 1996 Björn Rydevik is professor of orthopaedic surgery at Göteborg university. He has developed experimental models for the study of spinal and other neuropathic pain conditions and has been involved in the clinical applications of osseointegration in the rehabilitation of amputees since 1990, and has a special research interest in the field of osseoperception. He is currently Head of the Section of Anaesthesiology, Biomaterials and Orthopaedics at the Institute of Clinical Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy.
